One of the first scriptures I learned as a child was Psalm 8, "O Lord OGod how excellent is thy name in all the earth." We were taught that God is mighty and majestic and you can see His glory in the heaven and throughout the earth. Now that the years have passed and I have grown. I now realize that there are many places for me to see the glory of God. I saw that glory in a powerful way this past Sunday and I must tell you it was awesome.
I was reminded of the effort of Israel to build the temple. it was not an easy endeavor, but they succeeded. At the dedication of the Lord's house the glory was so thick that they could not enter. I felt that rush and overshadowing this weekend right here at the New Psalmist Baptist Church. Six years ago, we were thrust into a building program. The City of Baltimore wanted to enlarge it's housing base and they needed our sites to accomplish the task. We agreed to move and that led us to build the new facility on Marian Drive. It was a task. God gave a big assignment and the Adversary stretched us twisted us, and attacked us to test our metal. We learned the greatest lesson of God. God's projects need God's help. I learned to pray at a whole new level. I learned to speak the desire of my heart. I learned to cast every care on the Lord. he used the project and allowed the Adversary to sift us so that the best in us would come out. I don't believe anyone could have been happier when we crossed that doorsill than I was that day.
Teamwork is more than a word. It has to be a principle that under girds our efforts. God has a way of using the members of the team to strengthen each other and to make each other better. Our team accomplished that for me. They helped me grow as I believe I helped them. Moreover, we had opportunity to see the miracle hand of God operate right before our face. We saw one miracle after another and we have the testimonies to confirm them. I thank God for each member of the team that helped us get to where we are. i know how vital good teams are for kingdom work.
As I reflect upon our journey, my know I have grown so much wiser. I know that we must ask God to show Himself mighty. I know we must believe even when there is no miracle in sight. I know that the darkness does not mean I am blind, it just means i must work harder to find my way. I shall forever be indebted for these truths.
This is just the reflection of a happy soul. Sunday we celebrate one full year. Last week Bishop Jakes preached us into a fit and helped to set the tone for this reflection. Sunday Bishop Claude Alexander will put the icing on the cake at the three morning services. Let's shout together and praise God for so wonderful a blessing.
God is so awesome! I needed to read this tonight. I'm so blessed to be a member of the New Psalmist Baptist Church!
